Couture Debate: Forever21 Maternity Line

Today it was brought to my attention that Forever21 will be expanding its line to add maternity. The line is going to feature "hip maternity wear on a budget". I've heard mixed emotions from friends and twitter followers as to how they feel about this line extension. I thought it would make for a nice juicy and couture debate.

I personally have mixed emotions about the line, but they are leaning more toward the negative. I understand that there is a large market in the fashion industry with the pregnant woman in mind, many whom are young and would like clothing that is trendy yet affordable. I understand that you're only going to be pregnant 9 months and don't want to spend a fortune on the clothes. My major problem is the target demographic for Forever21 is teenagers. With teenagers getting pregnant at alarming rates, I feel as though this new affordable line of maternity clothing in one of their favorite and most frequented stores, somehows condones these teenage pregnancies. Despite the fact that the target age group includes 13-18 year old girls, the pregnant women posted on the website's blog appear to be much older.

I think Forever21 needs to be very clear in its marketing as to whom this maternity line is for. I would really hate for all the young girls that are getting pregnant to think they can now spend their money from their babysitting jobs on cheap clothing for their growing bellies. Don't get me wrong, I shop in Forever21 from time to time, but they don't have the best quality clothing. These garments aren't going to last you a life time. They are trendy and inexpensive. That is the key, not quality.

I Need An Accessories Haul...BAD!

Tons of clothes...check!

Ample supply of shoes...check!

Staple handbags and clutches...check!

Accessories....WTF!?!

I really don't have any accessories. I'm somewhat shamed by this. I have 2 bracelets, 3 rings, 1 necklace and 1 pair earrings from Tiffany's and then 1 other pair of earrings. I had a basic Juicy starter bracelet sans charms and I just gave that away. AND THAT'S IT. I really have no jewelry. I really can't believe this is what my collection has dwindled down to.

I own a lot of classic pieces when it comes to clothing and I know accessories really make a difference in an outfit. All the things you can do with just a plain cardigan or even a plain racer back dress.

I don't like buying a lot of trendy pieces when it comes to clothing. I like classic pieces that I can have for a long time and wear a million and one ways. When it comes to trendy pieces I buy (or used to for that matter) accessories and jewelry. And I don't like to spend a lot of money on them (minus my pieces from Tiffany's). So I've been perusing the net looking at inexpensive pieces that I can get to up the anti on my collection.

I Think I'm Kinda Liking The New 'Love'

They are at it again. Forever21 has a new line or branch called Love21. Its their more contemporary line. I think I like it better than the trendier things that the flagship line carries. Is it just me or do they look very cheap sometimes? Well I know its not just me. But anyway, the line just hit stores and online yesterday. Make sure you check it out. There aren't items in every category but I'm sure they are working on it. What they have so far I'm digging. Things look a little more flirty and lines are a bit more classy. And I'm loving the casual and feminine prints and colors.

Plus Size Women Have 'Faith' in Forever21

Attention all my plus size divas! Today marks the day that Forever21 introduces its plus size line Faith21. No longer will you have to try and squeeze into the smaller sizes at Forever21, and have the opportunity to have trendy clothes as well.

I have previewed the line online, and although selections are limited now, I'm sure they will expand later. Current categories include: knit tops, woven tops, dresses, bottoms, basics and accessories (there are currently no items in this category). For the items that are available I think they are figure flattering and very cute. There are vibrant colors and trendy prints. While the amount of fabric may have increased the price point has stayed the same. (That makes me happy).

The line will be available in select stores as well as online. Find a location nearest you.

Forever21 Introduces Swimsuits

I'm so ready for winter to be over. I'm even more ready for swimsuit season so I can lay out and get my Vitamin D up.

(For all you simpletons that don't know, sun exposure provides Vitamin D which is important for calcification in your bones. But let's do it in moderation. No one wants skin cancer) -Jennie you know I had to be a nerd for a moment.

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled blog lol. I'm rather excited to see that Forever21 now sells swimsuits. They're cute, trendy and inexpensive. For those that live on the beach or always tanning or just love having multiple swimsuits I think its great. I plan on laying out as much as I can this summer and there is nothing like every time you go to the pool you have a new swimsuit. Who wants to wait for the one from yesterday to dry? Besides swimsuits have gone past function and become strictly fashion pieces for quite some time. How many of you have tons of swimsuits but don't actually swim anymore?...A lot of you I'm sure.
