Miss USA Controversy: Miss Pennsylvania Resigns

It seems as though there is already trouble in paradise. Not even a full 72 hours after the crowning of Miss USA 2012, the Miss Universe Organization is in the press yet again with negative allegations. It's been reported that Miss Pennsylvania USA Sheena Monnin has resigned effective immediately and stated her reasons as to why very publicly via a Facebook note. You can read the full story here.

Miss Pennsylvania has alleged that the organization lacks morals and values since and that the competition was rigged. Claims have been made that the top 5 contestants were chosen before the pageant even started. Donald Trump, CEO of The Miss Universe Organization is refuting the claims made by Miss Pennsylvania and making some of his own. He states that she outlined the reason she has decided to resign is because he is going to allow transgendered women to compete in competitions.

Now if you watched the pageant on Sunday you know that the winner Miss Rhode Island had her final question come from Twitter which touched on transgender contestants /8competing in the pageant and whether she thought it to be fair or not which she emphatically said yes.

In true Trump fashion, he says that Pennsylvania is just made that she didn't win and that she's being a sore loser. "I think her primary issue is she lost and she's angry about losing. In my opinion, I saw her for barely a second she didn't deserve to be in the top 15"-Donald Trump

If these original allegations are true, I'm wondering if Miss Pennsylvania would feel the same way if her name were one of the top 5 to be called Sunday night. If she really wanted to be a whistle blower she could have done so right before the pageant. Not that I'm one to make a scene, but if it was really about morals and values and what you feel to be right she should have said something at that very moment. I'm sure adjustments would have been made to avoid a scandal.

I reall hate that attention will be paid to this and potentially take away from the high of the new Miss USA 2012. I fully believe that she deserved to win despite any allegations. There isn't a person I know that watched the pageant that didn't agree with her winning. I'm very interested to see how all of this plays out.
