Here Comes The Nordstrom Bride!

Finally, after 109 years of business, the famed retailer Nordstrom will finally open an instore bridal boutique. Next Wednesday, December first, the introductory bridal boutique will open on the 3rd floor of the North Michigan Avenue store. Until now  you could get your engagement gifts, rings, bridesmaids dresses, all the clothes for your honeymoon, the perfect wedding shoe, but what about the dress? Now all that has changed. You can read the full article here.

2010 Ugg Trunk Show!

As I was working one day in Nordstrom I looked across the floor and was able to see the new Ugg display. I could barely focus as the vibrant colors caught my eye from afar. I had to have them all! And to no surprise they were sold out nationwide within a matter of days.
Now they are online and in stores again (sparingly). Here are a few of my favorite styles and colors.

Product Review: Exclusive MAC Collections at Nordstrom

A few posts ago I was so excited for a few things from the new exclusive MAC products at Nordstrom. Here is the verdict:
I'm going to keep it brief. I was not enthused once I was up close. At the end of my trip I didn't want to purchase anything, and I no longer felt bad for not having money. The one thing that I would purchase is part of the standard products anyway so I can get it at any time.

Graphic Garden Collection:
  • Didn't want the brushes once I saw them. Would only need 1 brush from each set, and for all that I can find a cheaper alternative.
  • Lip bags weren't that cute up close. The colors weren't essential to me.
  • The eyeshadow palettes are good only if you don't already have a million and one eyeshadows. If you have tons of eyeshadows I'm sure you have dupes of all the colors that are present in these 2 palettes. Not necessary, and you're really only paying for the case that the palette comes in, and they aren't that cute up close.

Look In A Box:

  • All I can say is not worth it.
  • You're guaranteed to have at least one of the two eyeshadows that come in the kit, or dupes for both.
  • Boxes aren't skin tone specific. You're bound to look ashy if you're a brown girl with the beauty powders that come with them.
  • The lip colors are suspect.
  • The only plus is that it comes with a face chart on how to achieve the look, but that's only good if you know how to apply and have the right brushes in the first place.

MAC Wishlist

Ok, so as soon as I say I'm taking a MAC break they come out with an exclusive collection for Nordstrom that I actually like. But in general I'm a sucker for anything that is exclusive or limited edition. I think this will be the death of me completing a cycle of Project 10 Pan.

After I saw the Spring Garden Collection I fell in love. I love the palettes but I know I have colors that may be similar. I don't want to jump the gun and buy them. But I'm definitely going to go and swatch the products and see if the color pay out is good. I also like the Look in a Box idea that they are doing (finally following suit with many other companies) but I found that I had most of the colors already or something very similar.

I told myself that I didn't want to spend a lot of money but low and behold I did my initial tally of the things that I wanted and it came up to $200! But in hindsight I think I'm going to get a lot of bang for my buck.

Here is what I want:
  • Look In A Box (Seductress)
  • Lip Bag (Summer Crop)
  • Brush Bag (Shape & Perfect)
  • Brush Bag (Define & Blend)

Might seem like a lot for only 4 things. HOWEVER if you really break it down, for $200 I will get:

  • 2 eyeshadows
  • 11 brushes
  • 2 lipsticks
  • 1 lipglosses
  • 1 bare slim shine
  • mascara
  • beauty powder
  • 3 cute bags (to hold products)

Damn...I really just sold myself. Who can pass all of this up for $200. Need we even discuss how much it all would have been with each item at full price? Well, looks like I'll be buying all of it! And as horrible as it may seem, since I'm getting it from Nordstrom that means I can always take it back if I don't like it anymore. YAY FOR THAT!

Label Review: Kensie

While on my brief but fulfilling vacation to Atlanta I took advantage of the shopping. I mean who would I be if I didn't? I didn't plan on shopping, but needless to say I did anyway. While I was at Macy's I stumbled upon a line called Kensie that I had never heard of before. I fell in love with all the pieces! I couldn't believe that I didn't know about this line. So of course I had to look them up as soon as I got home. There were so many things that I wanted to buy but I settled for a coat that was pink, black and white plaid. Its so cute! I had to wear it right away.

The Canadian line Kensie provides a palette of fresh and sweet trends for ladies across the globe. Known for their use of desired materials like cashmere, leather, and exquisite silk, Kensie offers sophisticated women a range of fashionable options – everything from cocktail dresses to office sweaters. Kensie clothing exudes femininity, flirtatiousness, and fun. Their pieces are soft and romantic with cuts that offer a youthful silhouette.

Kensie cuts their styles to fit a real woman’s body, choosing fantastic fabrics and utilizing exquisite tailoring to pair pants with every lady. With cute pencil skirts and Parisian-style sweaters, the Kensie line continues to turn out delectable styles season after season. The recent launch of the Kensie shoe line shows their continued dedication to fulfilling all aspects of women’s fashion.

I believe the price point is reasonable for the quality of the clothing. You can find Kensie at: Macy's, Nordstrom, Dillards and many discount websites.
